The Huawei P40 and P40 Pro are likely still at least a few months away from being officially announced, but the rumor mill may have just leaked their designs early.
Renders that claim to show the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro have appeared. According to the CAD-based renders from OnLeaks and 91mobiles, the Huawei P40 will have a large rectangular camera housing on its backside with up to four cameras. It's said that there's glass on the front and back of the P40, with the flat display measuring in at 6.1 or 6.2 inches.
The Huawei P40 Pro is expected to have a similar design as the P40, but with up to five rear cameras in its rectangular camera bump. The display on the Huawei P40 Pro may be a quad-curved screen, meaning that it's got curved edges on all four sides. The screen could measure around 6.5 inches in size.
Both phones are said to have a USB-C port, SIM card tray, and speaker grille on the bottom along with power and volume buttons on the right. There's no 3.5mm headphone jack on either model, which is a change from this year's P30 that had a 3.5mm port (the P30 Pro didn't).
Other rumors say that the Huawei P40 Pro specs could include a Kirin 990 processor, 5500mAh battery with support for 50W fast charging, a 120Hz OLED screen, and 5G support. The rear camera setup could include a 64MP main sensor, 20MP ultra-wide angle cam, and 12MP telephoto camera.
One thing that's still unknown about the P40 and P40 Pro is what they'll do with their front-facing camera. There's no pop-up mechanism, but it's unclear if Huawei will use a notch like with the P30 and P30 Pro or if they'll move to a hole-punch display.
The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro were announced at the end of March 2019, and so we could see a similarly timed announcement for the P40 and P40 Pro next year. Until then, we're sure to get more details of Huawei's upcoming flagships, so keep it locked here.
