Robocalls and scammers can be super annoying, and many folks don't even bother answering the phone anymore unless it's one of their contacts because of spam calling. Sprint today announced a new app to help stop scam calls made to their customers.
Sprint Call Screener Basic is a free service that'll identify the "highest-risk" spam calls and show "Spam Caller" on the incoming call screen when you're getting a spam call. It also gives you the ability to block the highest-risk spam calls if you'd like so you won't even be bothered by them, as well as the ability to report complaints by phone and get business caller ID.
If you'd like a more fully-featured spam block, Sprint Call Screener Plus is available for $2.99 per line per month. It identifies all spam calls and will display "Potential Spam", "Robo Caller", or "Potential Fraud" on the incoming call screen so you know what kind of spam call you're dealing with. It'll also show you how the incoming call rates on a risk meter.
Subscribers to Sprint Call Screener Plus can also block all spam calls by a set risk level and block calls from a particular phone number.
Other features included with Sprint Call Screener Plus include displaying the name and city/state of a caller, displaying the name of a the person texting you on Android, histories for incoming calls and blocked numbers, marking numbers as spam, and setting a reminder to call someone back.
Sprint customers can get a free 15-day trial of Sprint Call Screener Plus to see if they think it's worth the monthly charge. Sprint's Call Screener app will come preloaded on Android phones, and iPhone owners can download it from the App Store.
