AirPods owners, Apple has some fresh firmware for you to start the week.
Apple has released firmware updates for the AirPods Pro and AirPods 2. As noted by MacRumors, both models of AirPods are running firmware version 2C54 after the update.
Unfortunately, unlike with iOS updates, there's no changelog to detail what's different about this new firmware. There's also no easy way to install the update manually. New firmware is installed while the AirPods are connected to an iOS device, so the easiest way to try and get a new update is to put your AirPods in their case, plug the case in, and then pair the AirPods to an iPhone or iPad.
To see which firmware your AirPods are running, connect them to your iPhone or iPad and launch the Settings app. From there, select "General", then "About", and then "AirPods", and you'll be able to see the firmware version.
It may seem kind of weird that there's a new update for your headphones, but this does mean that Apple can make your AirPods better after their release. So if you've got a pair of AirPods Pro or AirPods 2, be sure to check your firmware in the coming days to make sure you get this latest update.
