Huawei is one of the few companies that are still regularly producing new Android tablets, and this week the company is rolling out a new tablet aimed at Android fans who want their version of Apple's iPad Pro.
The Huawei MatePad Pro features a 10.8-inch 2560x1600 display with 16:10 aspect ratio and rounded corners. There's a hole-punch for the 8MP camera in one corner of the screen, and the bezels around the display measure 4.9mm thick. Huawei has also included a 13MP rear camera on the MatePad Pro.
The MatePad Pro is equipped with four speakers that've been tuned by Harman Kardon, and there's a USB-C port on the bottom for charging. Inside is an octa-core Huawei Kirin 990 processor with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB storage options. The battery measures in a 7250mAH and includes support for up to 40W fast charging and 15W wireless fast charging, and the tablet also includes reverse wireless charging so that it can recharge your phone.
On the software side, the MatePad Pro comes with Android 10 running below Huawei's EMUI 10 user interface. Huawei includes a "computer mode" with EMUI 10 on the MatePad Pro that gives you a desktop-like environment. In it, you can open multiple apps at once, resize and move around windows, and store some documents on the desktop.
Huawei has also made a physical keyboard cover for the MatePad Pro to help you get more of a traditional laptop feel from it.
Another notable accessory for the MatePad Pro is the M Pencil. This stylus offers 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and can be recharged by magnetically attaching it to the top of the MatePad Pro.
Huawei is launching the MatePad Pro in China, where pricing will start at 3299 yuan ($469 USD) for the 6GB/128GB model. There's no word yet on when or if the MatePad Pro will launch in other parts of the globe.
