Android TV's Play Store is getting a facelift and it's rolling out to users over the coming weeks.
A couple of days ago, Reddit users began to see a new-look version of the Play Store on Android TV that'll include several improvements. That updated Play Store was found on version 16.9.42 of the app.
Google tells 9to5Google that this updated Play Store for Android TV will be hitting users over the "next few weeks". So if you don't see it quite yet, it should be hitting your Android TV box soon.
With this update, Google is working to make apps more discoverable and adding an auto-playing video in the background to give you a preview of what the show is like. Personalized app recommendations will be in there, too, along with sections with specific themes to help you find exactly the new app you're looking for.
We first got word of this updated Play Store for Android TV a few months ago during Google I/O, and so it's nice to see it finally starting to roll out to users. The design seems to be much-improved, and there are some nice tweaks to help you more quickly find the right app for you. While Android TV's Play Store is a good bit smaller than the Play Store for Android phones, the 5,000+ apps available on Android TV could still be a lot to sift through on your own.
