That didn't take long. A little over a week after we heard that Spotify was adding support for Siri playback on iOS, an official update is now available with that feature included.
An update to Spotify version 8.5.26 is now available on iOS, and it includes the ability to play music using Siri. Just say something like "Hey Siri, play Thrice on Spotify" or "Hey Siri, play 'I And Love And You' by The Avett Brothers on Spotify" and your music will begin playing.
iOS users have long been able to use Siri to play music with Apple Music, and the update to iOS 13 brought with it improvements to SiriKit that enabled third-party apps to do the same thing. Spotify is one of the biggest streaming music apps around, so it's great to see Siri playback finally being added.
According to Spotify's release notes for this new update, using Siri is available on iPhone, iPad, CarPlay, AirPods, and HomePod via AirPlay.
Also included in today's update is support for Spotify turning on its Data Saver mode when you enable Low Data Mode on your iOS device. Spotify is landing on the Apple TV today, too, so be sure to grab that app if you've got an Apple TV and want to pump out tunes through your TV's speakers.
