Android Go is meant to help make Android better on devices with entry-level specs, like those with 1.5GB of RAM or less. And now that Android 10 is here, Google is launching an Android Go version of its new update.
Android 10 (Go edition) brings with it several improvements over Android 9 (Go edition). You can switch between apps more quickly and in a way that's more memory-efficient, and Google says that apps now launch 10 percent faster, too.
Security has been beefed up with Android 10 (Go edition) thanks to a new form of encryption called Adiantum that Google has made for entry-level phones. With it, your device can encrypt data without affecting device performance an without specialized hardware.
Google says that new phones will launch with Android 10 (Go edition) this fall.
Smartphones are expensive and they're only getting pricier. Not everyone can afford a phone that costs $1,000 or more, but that doesn't mean that the experience of using their phone should suffer. That's where Android Go comes in, and it's good to see Google continue to update and improve this version of Android that's focused on entry-level devices.
According to Google, more than 500 manufacturers have launched more than 1,600 Android Go phones in the last 18 months. Devices are available in places like India, South Africa, Nigeria, Brazil, and the U.S., and in some countries, Android Go phones are available for as low as $27.
