New Apple iPad with 10.2-inch screen starts shipping September 25

Today Apple pushed out its iOS 13.1 and iPadOS updates, nearly a week ahead of their original release date. Apple also revealed that it will be launching its new iPad (7th Gen) early, too.

The iPad (7th Gen) will begin shipping to customers tomorrow, September 25, a full five days ahead of its original September 30 launch date. It'll be available in Apple Stores beginning later this week.

Pricing for the new iPad starts at $329 for the 32GB Wi-Fi model, or you can get a 128GB Wi-Fi version for $429. Apple is also selling Wi-Fi + Cellular versions of its latest iPad, with pricing set at $459 for the 32GB model and $559 for the 128GB flavor.

Apple's iPad (7th Gen) includes a few upgrades over its predecessor. One of the most notable is a larger 10.2-inch screen with a resolution of 2160x1620, up from the 9.7-inch screen on the previous iPad. The new iPad also adds support for the Smart Keyboard accessory, helping to make it a better replacement for a traditional laptop.

Other features of the iPad (7th Gen) include an Apple A10 Fusion processor, Apple Pencil support, 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front-facing FaceTime HD camera, and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. There are stereo speakers included, too, along with a Lightning connector and 3.5mm headphone jack. While it's not the most high-end iPad in Apple's lineup, the combination of a bigger screen, Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard support, and a $329 starting price tag make the iPad (7th Gen) a pretty compelling option for anyone in the market for a new tablet.
