5G phones exist. There aren't many to choose from right now, but they're out there. Which means if you really wanted to, you could fork over the cash to be on the bleeding edge of network connectivity. So much so, in fact, that actually finding 5G coverage and being able to use it would be pretty exciting.

Of course, if you are considering a 5G phone then you've probably already done the research. You know if you have 5G network coverage in your area. You could always buy a 5G phone right now in hopes that you get 5G coverage at a later date, but that might be jumping the gun a bit.

But that doesn't mean it isn't possible.

I took a quick look over the 5G options available from the major wireless networks. Technically speaking, Verizon has four different phones that can connect to the wireless carrier's fledgling 5G network: Samsung's Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy Note 10 5G, LG's V50 ThinQ 5G, and Motorola's Moto Z3 -- which requires a $350 Moto Mod accessory to actually work on the more advanced network.

A quick look at AT&T told me the Big Blue carrier doesn't have any smartphones that can connect to a 5G network. Searching for "5G" on Sprint's website tells me that the Galaxy S10 5G is coming to the Now Network, and the carrier has the HTC-branded Home Hub for $600 as well.

Finally, T-Mobile, which has Samsung's Galaxy S10 5G available to buy right now.

Basically, not a lot of options. Yet. That will change in the near future, especially as 2020 gets into gear. 5G is still brand new, and while some companies want the ability to yell "First!" at competitors, there really isn't any reason to rush.
