The Vivo Nex 3 is now official, and it's packed to the gills with high-end specs.
One of the first things you'll notice about the Vivo Nex 3 is the screen. The waterfall display offers a 99.6% screen-to-body ratio and is a 6.89-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2256x1080 and an in-display fingerprint sensor. Because the screen spills over to the sides, Vivo is using pressure-sensitive buttons on the Nex 3 for volume and power.
The cameras are another notable feature of the Vivo Nex 3. Because the bezels on the display are so slim, Vivo has stuck the Nex 3's 16MP selfie cam into a pop-up mechanism that emerges from the top of the unit. Around back there's a triple rear camera that includes 64MP main sensor, a 13MP wide angle camera, and a 13MP telephoto cam.
Inside the Vivo Nex 3 is Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, and Vivo plans to launch a 5G version of the Nex 3 alongside the standard 4G LTE model. There are 8GB and 12GB RAM versions of the Nex 3, and the 4G model comes with 128GB of built-in storage while the 5G versions come with 256GB of storage. The battery powering the Nex 3 comes in at 4500mAh, and support for 44W fast charging is included to help you recharge that big battery more quickly.
The Vivo Nex 3 also comes equipped with Android 9 Pie running below Vivo's custom Funtouch OS 9.1 user interface.
Vivo will launch the Nex 3 in China later this month. Pricing starts at 4998 yuan ($707 USD) for the 4G model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. If you want to step up to 5G, you can expect to pay 5698 yuan ($806 USD) for the 8GB/256GB model or 6198 yuan ($877 USD) for the top-end 12GB/256GB version.
The Vivo Nex 3 is one of the most high-end Android devices on the market, and the combination of a Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, 12GB of RAM, a 64MP camera, and a big screen with slim bezels is sure to get a lot of folks interested in the device. We're interested in using the Nex 3 to see what it's like to use that waterfall screen and how it handles accidental touches, but unfortunately there's no word on when or if it'll be released outside of China, so for now most of us will just have to settle for looking at photos.
