Google has been busy updating lots of its Android apps to include a dark mode to help them fit in with Android 10 and it's system-wide dark theme. Now another Google app is getting a dark mode, and it's a big one.
Gmail for Android is now being updated with a dark theme. The updated app is now rolling out to users, but it looks like the dark mode isn't available to everyone quite yet, so it may require a server-side switch from Google.
Once Gmail's dark mode is available to you, there should be a toggle in the app's settings to enable it. You can set the app to a light theme, a dark theme, or to follow the system default.
Gmail is a popular Android app because it comes preloaded on most Android phones and is a widely-used email service, so it's nice to see the Gmail app finally get it's dark mode update. While it doesn't appear to be a true black, this dark theme will still be easier on your eyes when you're using your phone at night than the regular light theme.
