We're still waiting for the Galaxy Home to launch, and Samsung says that it's still coming, but the company has now confirmed that it's also working on another smart speaker.
The Samsung Galaxy Home Mini has been confirmed. Spotted on Samsung's South Korea website (via Android Police), the Galaxy Home Mini is a small, fabric-covered speakers with volume and microphone controls on top. The page says that the Galaxy Home Mini has AKG sound and can control smart home devices with Bixby and SmartThings, and it apparently has infrared remote control, too.
Details on the Galaxy Home Mini are still pretty light, including when it might launch. Samsung is seeking beta testers, though, so the product itself may be mostly ready for release.
It's now been more than one year since the regular Galaxy Home was launched, but Samsung has been pretty tight-lipped about the smart speaker's launch. It was expected to arrive in April this year, but that month came and went without a release. Samsung recently said that it's working to "refine and enhance" the Galaxy Home ahead of launch, so it is still coming. Perhaps we'll see the Galaxy Home and Galaxy Home Mini launch at the same time.
