Motorola's newest smartphone is here, and the company claims that it has an industry first feature.
The Motorola One Action includes a 16MP ultra-wide action camera with 117-degree field of view that lets you record video horizontally while holding your phone vertically. Motorola says that it's done this so that you can record horizontal video while holding your phone more naturally in the vertical position.
The action cam on the Motorola One Action also includes Enhanced Video Stabilization to help keep your clips smooth. And there's 2.0µm Quad Pixel tech that helps offer four times more light sensitivity, which Moto claims will get you sharper, brighter videos.
The other two cameras on the back of the Motorola One Action include a 12MP main camera with phase detection autofocus, 1.25µm pixels, and an f/1.8 aperture, and a 5MP depth camera to help you achieve portrait mode photos with bokeh-style blur.
Around on the other side of the Motorola One Action is a 6.3-inch 2520x1080 display with 21:9 aspect ratio. There's a hole-punch in the upper-left corner of the screen where the 12MP front camera lives. Inside the new Moto phone is a Samsung Exynos 9609 processor paired with 4GB of RAM, 128GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot, and a 3500mAh battery.
Rounding things out is a rear fingerprint reader, a USB-C port for charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack for listening to music, and Android 9 Pie with features like Google's Digital Wellbeing, Moto Display, and Moto Actions, which lets you do things like twisting your wrist to open the Motorola One Action's camera.
The Motorola One Action is available starting today in Brazil, Mexico, and "various European countries" at a price of €259 ($287 USD). It'll launch in Latin America, Europe, and Asia Pacific over the coming month, and it'll arrive in the U.S. and Canada in early October.
With it's ultra-wide action camera and 21:9 display, the Motorola One Action could appeal to folks who use their phone to capture and watch a lot of video but are looking for an affordable Android smartphone.
