Shortly after Nintendo introduced the Switch Lite, it quietly revealed an updated version of its regular Switch with improved battery life. Now that model is available for purchase.
The updated Nintendo Switch with longer battery life is now available from Amazon. Pricing is set at $299.99, and because the console ships from and is sold by Amazon, Prime customers can get speedy shipping.
The product page confirms that this is the updated Nintendo Switch model. Not only does it show the updated packaging (shown above) and the new HAC-001(-01) model number — the original Switch has the model number HAC-001 —the page also includes the longer battery life. Nintendo says that the new Switch offers 4.5-9 hours of battery, up from the original Switch's 2.5-6.5 hours of battery life.
This updated Nintendo Switch doesn't offer any performance improvements over the original version, so buyers won't be getting shorter load times or anything like that. Still, if you've got an original Switch and you always play in handheld mode, getting a couple extra hours of battery life could be worth the upgrade. And if you're new to the Nintendo Switch, the updated model is definitely the one to keep an eye out for.
