Xfinity Mobile is making a few notable changes to its rate plans this week.
Xfinity Mobile now offers more By the Gig shared data plans. Previously, customers had two options: 1GB for $12 per month or unlimited for $45 per line per month. Now Xfinity Mobile offers shared data plans with 1GB for $12 per month, 3GB for $30, and 10GB for $60. The unlimited plan is still available at a price of $45 per line per month.
Also rolling out now are two "value passes". The first is a Mexico & Canada Call Pass that'll get you unlimited calls to Mexico and Canada for $10 per month. And then there's the HD Pass, which will get you 720p HD video streaming on the unlimited plan for $20 per line per month. The By the Gig shared data plans include HD streaming.
We learned last year that Xfinity Mobile was making 480p its default video streaming resolution for unlimited data customers, but at the time, the company said that subscribers could request 720p HD streaming at no charge. Now it looks like unlimited data customers will have to begin paying if they want to stream 720p HD video on the go.
