One week after introducing the Switch Lite, Nintendo has confirmed that it's got a slightly improved version of the standard Switch coming, too.
A new version of the Nintendo Switch with improved battery life is coming. Nintendo has confirmed the news on its Japanese and U.S. websites, saying that the new Switch will get between 4.5 and 9 hours of battery life. As an example, it'll get you 5.5 hours of battery life while playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
To compare, the original Nintendo Switch gets around 2.5 to 6.5 hours of battery life and is estimated to get around 3 hours of battery life while playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The improved battery life is the only change with the new Switch that's been noted by Nintendo. The actual battery is the same size, and so is the size, weight, and screen size. That suggests that Nintendo may have swapped in an improved version of the NVIDIA Tegra processor that's better at sipping battery life.
The new Nintendo Switch should be easy to spot when it launches in mid-August. The new HAC-001(-01) will have a serial number that starts with "XKW", while the original HAC-001 has a serial number that starts with "XAW". The new model appears to have updated packaging, too, which you can see at the top of this post.
Nintendo also announced new Joy-Con controller colors today. These include one pair that's Blue and Neon Yellow and another pair that's Purple and Neon Orange. These new Joy-Con controllers will launch on October 4th for $79.99.
