After teasing a "fast" and "powerful" smartwatch earlier this month, Mobvoi today took the wraps off of its newest wearable device.
The TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE is now official, and as its name suggests, it comes with built-in cellular connectivity. It works on Verizon in the U.S., and you can use the 4G LTE connection to make VoLTE phone calls, send and receive text messages, and use other messaging apps, all without your smartphone nearby.
Mobvoi also touts that with its Cloud Synchronization feature, you can receive your smartphone notifications on your TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE without a tethered Bluetooth connection. Another custom feature, called SOS, can dial 911 and broadcast your location to a 911 call center with the tap of a button.
The screen on the TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE is a 1.39-inch 400x400 AMOLED display, but there's also a low power LCD screen that Mobvoi says offers a 30-day battery life. This LCD screen has 24-hour heart rate monitoring as well as the date and time, and it's got improved sunlight readability.
Also packed into the TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE is a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of storage, as well as a 415mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC for Google Pay, and GPS. There's also an array of sensors like a PPG heart rate sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and ambient light sensor.
The case itself is made of polyamide and glass fiber with a stainless steel bezel and aluminum back cover, and the 22mm watch strap is interchangeable. The case is also IP68 water resistant and meets military standard 810G to withstand temperature shock, solar radiation, salt fog, sand, and dust.
If that all sounds good to you, then you can buy the TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE from Amazon at a special price of $279. Mobvoi is selling the watch at this discounted rate, too. The special price will be available through August 10th, at which point it'll go up to $299.
Mobvoi notes that TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE buyers will be activate the watch's cellular connectivity one month after launch. Until August 10th rolls around, the watch can be used on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
We haven't seen a ton of new Wear OS smartwatches lately, so it's nice to see Mobvoi bringing a new model to market. The Snapdragon Wear 2100 chip in the TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE isn't Qualcomm's newest smartwatch chip, but it does come with built-in cellular connectivity, which is a feature that we haven't seen many other Wear OS watches include. If a Wear OS watch with built-in cellular connectivity sounds like something you'd like to have on your wrist, you can get the TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE today.
