After unleashing the Meizu 16s with flagship specs last month, Meizu is now readying a lower-cost, more mid-range handset to compliment it.
The Meizu 16Xs is now official. Like its Meizu 16s sibling, it's got a large display with slim bezels and no notch. Specifically, the display is a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 90.29 percent screen-to-body ratio. There's an in-display fingerprint sensor built into that screen, too.
Around back is another major feature of the Meizu 16Xs. The triple rear camera setup includes a 48MP main camera with a Samsung S5KGM1 sensor and a monochrome sub-camera that Meizu says will "bring more light and richer depth of field" to your photos. Rounding out the trio of cameras is a wide angle snapper with a 118.8 degree field of view.
Meizu has also packed a Snapdragon 675 processor inside the 16Xs along with 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of built-in storage. A 4000mAh battery powers the phone, and Meizu's mCharge fast charging tech will help you refill that battery more quickly.
On the software side, Meizu has equipped the 16Xs with a feature called Hyper Gaming that it claims will identify game loads and relocate resources where needed to help reduce lag.
The Meizu 16Xs is now available for pre-order in China ahead of its June 10th launch. Pricing starts at 1698 RMB ($245 USD) for the 6GB/64GB model and goes up to 1998 RMB ($289 USD) for the 6GB/128GB version. Launches are planned for select European countries, India, and some Asian countries in July, but unfortunately there's no word on a U.S. release. That's disappointing because with its notch-free AMOLED screen, 6GB of RAM, triple cameras, and 4000mAh battery, the Meizu 16Xs could be a worthy option for a lot of folks in the market for a lower-cost Android phone.
