One year after the debut of the Moto E5 family of devices, a rumor has emerged with some info on the next generation of Moto E hardware.
The Moto E6 is in the works with improvements that include an upgraded processor. Motorola will pack a Snapdragon 430 chipset into the Moto E6, claims XDA-Developers' Mishaal Rahman, up from the Snapdragon 425 found in the Moto E5. The new Moto E6 is also expected to pack 2GB of RAM and 16/32GB of built-in storage.
Around back there's rumored to be a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, and the front is said to be home to a 5MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture. The display could be a 5.45-inch panel with a resolution of 1440x720, which would be slightly smaller than the 5.7-inch 1440x720 display found on the Moto E5. Finally, the Moto E6 will reportedly come preloaded with Android 9.0 Pie.
There's no word yet on when the Moto E6 might be announced, but now that we're one year out from the Moto E5's reveal, Motorola could introduce the new model at any time.
Motorola's Moto E devices are widely considered some of the best affordable Android phones on the market, offering decent specs and design along with a fairly untouched version of Android, all at aggressive prices. We don't yet know for sure how the Moto E6 will perform, but if you're looking for a low-cost Android smartphone, this one could be worth waiting for.
