Today two new solutions for buying and returning Amazon purchases were announced.
First up, Amazon Key for Garage is available starting today. The service allows Amazon Prime members to get their orders delivered in their garage using Amazon's Key delivery option. It's available in select cities and on select garage doors. You can check to see if your town and garage door can work with Key for Garage right here.
Amazon sells a MyQ Smart Garage Door opener that you'll need for Key for Garage. There's also a bundle that includes the smart garage door opener and an Amazon Cloud Cam that lets you watch video of your package being delivered.
The goal of Key for Garage is to get your packages off of your doorstep, where they can be easily seen and stolen by thieves. Amazon Key allows an Amazon delivery person unlock your front door and drop off packages inside your house, but not everyone is comfortable with a delivery person opening the door to their home, though, so the garage is another option.
Amazon Key today expanded to more U.S. cities, bringing its availability up to a total of 50 markets. The new cities include Charlotte, NC; Columbus, OH; Fresno, CA; Grand Rapids, MI; Hartford, CT; Las Vegas, NV; Norfolk, VA; Oklahoma City, OK; Omaha, NE; Rochester, NY; Stockton, CA; Virginia Beach, VA; and Wilmington, DE.
In other Amazon news, Kohl's announced that Amazon customers will be able to return their purchases at all Kohl's stores starting in July. The service is currently available in a pilot program in 100 stores in the Los Angeles, Chicago, and Milwaukee markets.
With a Kohl's return, you can drop off your unwanted Amazon purchase without a box or label. Kohl's will return your purchase for free. This can help you to save time and effort if you buy something from Amazon but end up deciding to return it.
