OnePlus continues to trickle out details of its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 7.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau today confirmed that the OnePlus 7 will come in two versions: the standard OnePlus 7 and a OnePlus 7 Pro with 5G support and an upgraded display. OnePlus is spending three times as much on the OnePlus 7 Pro's display than it spent on previous models, and Lau teased to The Verge that it will "redefine fast and smooth" and that it will be "super-smooth and very crisp."
Lau didn't spill any concrete spec details of the OnePlus 7 Pro's display, but rumors have suggested that it could be a 6.64-inch display with 90Hz refresh rate. Most smartphone screens have a 60Hz refresh rate, one notable exception being the Razer Phone and Razer Phone 2 with 120Hz displays. With a 90Hz display, the OnePlus 7 Pro's screen should appear a bit smoother.
Today's report also mentions that the OnePlus 7 Pro is likely to cost around the same price as the Samsung Galaxy S10 ($899.99/£799.00), Huawei P30 Pro (£899.00), and Apple iPhone XS ($999.00/£899.00). OnePlus is known for pricing its flagship smartphones aggressively, but with an upgraded display and 5G support, it won't be a surprise if the OnePlus 7 Pro launches with a price that's higher than previous OnePlus phones.
The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro are rumored to be set for a May 14th announcement. OnePlus has said that it's making a launch event announcement tomorrow, so we should learn more then. Stay tuned.
