Following the U.S. carriers updating their Galaxy S8, S8+, and Note 8 models to Android Pie, it's now the unlocked versions' time to update.
Samsung is now pushing out Android Pie updates to the unlocked Galaxy S8, S8+, and Note 8 in the U.S. Galaxy S8 owners should be on the lookout for a 1493.72MB update to version G950U1UEU5DSC1 and Galaxy S8+ owners should watch for a 1493.65MB update to version G955U1UEU5DSC1. Meanwhile, Galaxy Note 8 users are getting a 1502.81MB update to version N950U1UEU5DSC1.
These updates include a bump to Android Pie as well as Samsung's One UI. This refreshed user interface includes a new look and Night Mode, which will help save your eyes from being blinded by a white user interface at night. Samsung has also improved reachability, moving interactive elements closer to the bottom of the screen so that you can more easily reach them with one hand.
Typically, unlocked phones get updates faster than their carrier-locked counterparts because they carriers usually put updates through their own testing process in addition to the manufacturer's tests. That wasn't the case for the unlocked Galaxy S8, S8+, and Note 8, but hey, at least the updates are finally making their way to users.
