Samsung's flagship Galaxy S10 phones may have avoided the notch and used a hole-punch design instead, but Samsung does sell phones with notches, and today a new one made its debut.
The Samsung Galaxy A70 features a large 6.7-inch 2400x1080 AMOLED screen with a 20:9 aspect ratio and an Infinity-U Display, meaning it's got a small waterdrop notch at the top of its screen. Inside of that notch is a 32MP camera that also offers facial recognition. If you'd prefer to use your finger to unlock your phone, Samsung has included an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Around back there's a triple rear camera setup that includes a main 32MP snapper with f/1.7 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture and 123-degree field of view, and a 5MP depth sensor that'll help you add an artistic blurry effect to your photos. Samsung touts that it's included a Scene Optimizer feature with the Galaxy A70 that'll recognize and enhance up to 20 scenes and a Flaw Detection feature that'll identify "glitches" before you snap a photo.
Inside the Galaxy A70 is an octa-core processor, 6/8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. If that's not enough, you can add more storage with a microSD card. There are dual SIM slots included in Samsung's new Galaxy A series phone, and the whole package is powered by a 4500mAh battery. That's a pretty big battery pack, but the good news is that Samsung has included 25W Super Fast Charging support to help you more quickly refill the battery.
Samsung isn't talking pricing or availability for the Galaxy A70 yet, but it is hosting an event on April 10th that'll be focused on its Galaxy A series, so we may learn more about the A70 there.
The Galaxy A70 looks like an interesting option for folks who love big phones. It's got a massive 6.7-inch screen that's bigger than the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S10+, and there's a huge battery to help keep that screen going for a long time. While the Galaxy S10 5G also has a 6.7-inch screen and 4500mAh battery, the Galaxy A70 will likely be a good bit cheaper than its super high-end, 5G-equipped sibling.
