Apple's iOS 12.2 beta testing rolls on today.
iOS 12.2 beta 6 is now available to registered developers. If that's you, then you can grab the update by going into Settings > General > Software Update on your iOS device or Apple's Developer Center on the web. Public testers in the Apple Beta Software Program should be able to grab the update shortly.
The update to iOS 12.2 will bring with it several new features. There are four new Animoji — a giraffe, a shark, a boar, and an owl — along with Apple News support in Canada, an update to Apple's Wallet app, and a new UI for Apple Pay Cash. Support for AirPlay 2 on third-party TVs is also included as is a redesign Apple TV remote in the Control Center. AT&T customers will find the "5G E" icon in their status bar after updating to iOS 12.2.
No launch date for iOS 12.2 has been announced, but a public release seems like it'll happen soon. We typically see six or seven beta versions of an update before the public release, and today marks the sixth iOS 12.2 beta update. Plus, Apple is hosting an event on March 25th, so the update could be released shortly after that event is over.
Apple also released watchOS 5.2 beta 6 today with new Hermès watch faces. It's available for registed iOS developers in the Watch app and will likely be released to the public at the same time as iOS 12.2.
