Things have been kind of bumpy for Huawei lately in the U.S., with some people and companies opting to avoid Huawei devices and equipment over national security concerns. This week Huawei's CEO confirmed that he has a plan B if things get worse.
Huawei CEO Richard Yu says that his company has prepared its own operating system if the situation ever arises that it's no longer allowed to use Android or Windows on its products. In an interview with Die Welt, Yu said that Huawei would prefer to work with Google and Microsoft's ecosystems, but that they could strike out on their own if necessary.
Last year, a report claimed that Huawei had been working on its own mobile operating system since 2012 for use in a "worst case scenario". There's little known about the OS, but if for whatever reason Huawei were forced to stop using Android, it would have a backup OS ready to go and wouldn't be left scrambling.
Do you think Huawei will ever have to stop using Android?
