Hot on the heels of news that Netflix is raising the price of its streaming video plans, Hulu has revealed that it's doing the opposite.
Hulu today confirmed that it's lowering the price of its base streaming plan. Currently priced at $7.99 per month, the streaming video plan with ads will cost $5.99 per month starting February 26.
Pricing for the Hulu streaming service with no ads will remain the same at $11.99 per month. The price of the Hulu + Live TV plan is going up, increasing from its current $39.99 per month cost to $44.99 per month.
When Netflix announced its impending price increase, many people threatened to quit the service. Hulu's decision to lower the price of its base streaming plan seems aimed at getting those Netflix subscribers that are quitting to switch to Hulu. It's an aggressive move, and it's nice to see services making moves like this to compete for customers.
If you're not already a Hulu customer, will this price cut get you to sign up?
