Samsung's foldable smartphone will launch in the first half of 2019, according to Suzanne de Silva, Samsung's director of Product Strategy and Marketing. Unfortunately, no details on the foldable phone's price were given.
Past rumors suggested that Samsung could release its foldable smartphone in March, and while today's news isn't quite that specific, at least we now know that we'll be folding and unfolding and re-folding Samsung's Infinity Flex display sometime in the first half of this year. Rumors have also hinted at a price of $1,700 for the device. That's unconfirmed, but because foldable displays are a new technology and the phone will be a bleeding edge product, we don't expect Samsung's foldable smartphone to be cheap.
Samsung gave us a peek at its Infinity Flex display at its developer conference late last year. It showed a device that, when folded, offered a 4.3-inch 1960x480 screen with an aspect ratio of 21:9. Unfolding the device would get you a large 7.3-inch display with a 2152x1536 resolution and 4.2:3 aspect ratio.
Are you looking forward to the arrival of Samsung's foldable smartphone? Are you thinking about buying one whenever it does finally launch?
