The news surrounding Google's messaging services hasn't exactly been exciting lately, what with the rumored shutdown of consumer Hangouts and the confirmed shutdown of Allo, but today we're changing things up because there's some good news about a Google messaging product.
Google has confirmed that it's bringing its Smart Reply feature to Hangouts Chat. Already available in apps like Gmail and Messages, Smart Reply uses machine learning to recognize what is being said to you and offer three different responses. In Hangouts Chat, Smart Reply will recognize which messages most likely need responses and will offer up to three different replies for you to choose from.
Smart Reply for Hangouts Chat is now rolling out to all G Suite users and will be available to everyone in the next few days.
Smart Reply is a nifty little feature that can help you more quickly reply to incoming messages, and while it may not seem like much, the time you save using the feature can really add up. If you're a Hangouts Chat user, be on the lookout for Smart Reply in the coming days.
