Instagram is testing a new way for you to scroll through posts.
Instagram has confirmed that it's testing a feature that'll have you tapping to see the next post in your Explore feed rather than scrolling through the posts. "We're always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and bring you closer to the people and things you love," Instagram told TechCrunch.
The company also said that it's currently only testing this tap-to-advance feature in the Explore tab right now. When asked if this feature could be extended to the main feed as well, Instagram said that that's not something it's considering right now.
Users already tap to advance to the next screen in Instagram Stories, so this wouldn't be a totally new navigation method for the Instagram app.
It remains to be seen whether tap-to-advance will actually be rolled out to all Instagram users. The feature could help to save users a little time and effort since it just takes a quick tap to advance to the next image rather than a swipe, so as long as nothing major happens in testing, we could see Instagram rolling this feature out broadly.
What do you think of this tap-to-advance feature in Instagram?
