Google announced a trio of new products on stage at its event today, but it also launched a fourth new device on the Google Store without much fanfare.
An updated version of the Google Chromecast is now available. This 2018 Chromecast boasts a refreshed design, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, 1080p video at 60fps, HDMI output, and microUSB for power. Google also touts that its new Chromecast has a 15 percent improvement in hardware speed.
Google also touts that the updated Chromecast offers Live Albums from Google Photos, a feature that'll get you a constantly updating stream of photos on your TV. Coming later this year is a feature that'll let you add Chromecast to speaker groups so that you can listen to music in sync throughout the house.
The 2018 Chromecast is $35 and is available in Chalk and Charcoal color options. It's launching today in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, and the U.S. and will arrive in more countries in 2019.
