YouTube officially announced a dark theme for its mobile apps back in March, and the iOS version of the app got it right away. Fast forward six months and the Android app is finally getting it, too.
Android users are now seeing the dark theme appear in the YouTube app. As its name suggests, the dark theme turns the UI of the YouTube app dark rather than the blinding white that it normally is. I recently updated my YouTube app to version 13.35.51, opened it and closed it, then opened it again and the dark theme appeared for me.
You can toggle the dark theme on and off by tapping your profile photo in the upper right corner of the app and then going into Settings > General > Dark theme.
It's kind of strange that YouTube not only rolled out the dark theme to iOS before Android, but also took six months to get it into the Android app. But hey, it's finally here, letting you use the YouTube app in darker environments without being blinded.
Has YouTube's dark theme for Android appeared for you?
