The start of a new month means new Android security patches.

Google today unleashed its September 2018 security patches for Pixel and Nexus devices. If you've got a Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 2, Pixel XL, Pixel, Pixel C, Nexus 6P, or Nexus 5X, you should receive an update with these new security patches in the coming days.

Also posted today are the factory images and OTA images for those devices' updates. If you'd prefer to sideload an update now rather than waiting for it to come to you, you can do just that.

With these new security patches, Google has shared its Android Security Bulletin for the month, which details the security vulnerabilities that've been patched in the new updates. These include issues with the Android runtime, the framework, the library, and the media framework.

Finally, there's the Pixel/Nexus Security Bulletin, which goes into detail about the patches that've been released for Pixel and Nexus devices. There are patches for vulnerabilities affecting kernel and Qualcomm components. Google included a few functional patches, too, including improved battery charge for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL in Retail Mode, improved SW Version reporting for all four Pixel phones, and improved Bluetooth audio quality over car speakers for all four Pixel phones.
