Sony's Xperia XA family of devices are mid-ranged specced phones with a focus on entertainment, and today Sony announced the newest member of that group.
The Sony Xperia XA2 Plus is now official, boasting a 6-inch Full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Sony also boasts that the Xperia XA2 Plus is its first mid-range phone to include its High-Resolution Audio tech for clearer tunes. Also included is Sony's Digitial Sound Enhancement Engine that upscales your MP3s and LDAC Bluetooth tech for higher-quality music while listening to wireless headphones or speakers.
Sony has equipped the Xperia XA2 Plus with a 23MP rear camera with its 1/2.3" Exmor RS for mobile sensor. There's ISO 12800 sensitivity for low light photography in there, too, alogn with 4K video capture and 120fps slow motion video recording. Around front is an 8MP camera with a 120-degree wide angle lens and a bokeh feature to add a depth-of-field effect to your selfies.
Other specs of the Xperia XA2 Plus include a Snapdragon 630 processor, 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage, and a microSD card slot. Sony has included dual SIM slots with the device as well as a 3580mAh battery, NFC, a rear fingerprint reader, and Android 8.0 Oreo. All of those features are packed into an anodized aluminum shell.
Sony says that the Xperia XA2 Plus will launch in late August 2018 in silver, black, gold, and green color options. No pricing details are available yet.
The Xperia XA2 Plus looks like a nice upgrade over last year's Xperia XA1 Plus, boasting improved specs like a bigger screen, additional RAM, and a bigger battery. The XA1 Plus comes with a price tag of $379.99, so if Sony can get the Xperia XA2 Plus in at around that price, too, it could be a compelling mid-range option.
