Remember that rumored Sprint Unlimited 55+ plan that we heard about last month? Turns out that it's the real deal.
Sprint will launch its new Unlimited 55+ plan tomorrow, May 18th. The plan offers two lines of unlimited talk, text, and data for $70 per month with autopay, with the first line priced at $50 and the second at $20. This plan is only available to customers who are age 55 or older.
With the Unlimited 55+ plan, you'll get video streaming at 480p quality, music streaming at 500kbps, and streaming gaming at 2Mbps. Also included is unlimited mobile hotspot data at 3G speeds as well as Global Roaming, which includes free texting and 2G data in more than 185 destinations around the world.
If you'd like to upgrade your Unlimited 55+ plan, you can pay $10 more per line per month and get 10GB of mobile hotspot at 4G LTE speeds (2G speeds after that), video streaming at up to 1080p, music streaming at up to 1.5Mbps, and gaming at up to 8Mbps.
Sprint's plan is similar to to T-Mobile's Unlimited 55+ plan, which also includes unlimited talk, text, and data and is $70 per month for two lines. Each plan has one or two upgrades over the other plan, though. For example, T-Mobile's plan comes with inflight texting and an hour of Wi-Fi on Gogo flights, while Sprint's plan offers texting and data in 45 more destinations than T-Mobile's plan. If you're trying to decide between the two, you'll have to weight those features and each carrier's coverage in your area.
Sprint does say that this plan will be available for a limited time only, so if you're interested, you may want to act fast.
