After launching the Mi 6 last year, Xiaomi today unveiled a new Mi 6 model.
The Xiaomi Mi 6X is now official. Xiaomi says that the Mi 6X "emplifies [its] philosophy of making products with 'the same specifications, at half the price'". The Mi 6X will be available in China this month at a starting price of 1599 yuan, or $253 USD.
When it comes to specs, the Xiaomi Mi 6X is packing a 5.99-inch 2160x1080 display with 18:9 aspect ratio and a 20MP front-facing camera with AI bokeh, auto HDR, and more. Around back there's a dual rear camera setup with a 20MP f/1.75 sensor and a 12MP f/1.75 sensor. For the rear cameras, Xiaomi has included features like portrait mode and AI scene detection tech.
Inside the Mi 6X's metal shell is an octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of storage, and a 3,010mAh battery. Fast charging is supported so you can recharge in a hurry, and a USB-C port is included for charging.
Rounding out the Mi 6X's spec list are dual SIM slots, Bluetooth 5.0, a rear fingerprint reader, and five color options: red, blue, pink, black, and gold.
While the Mi 6X doesn't have quite the same high-end spec list as last year's Mi 6, which had a Snapdragon 835 processor and a larger battery, it does have its own notable features like a 6-inch high-res display and up to 6GB of RAM. Plus, the Mi 6X is nearly half the price of the Mi 6. All that considered, the Mi 6X looks like a solid option for consumers in the market for an affordable smartphone that doesn't compromise on specs.
