Huawei occasionally releases luxury Porsche Design editions of its flagship smartphones, and the P20 is getting that treatment.
The Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS is official. Huawei touts that it's got "Porsche DNA"with a design that's "enlightened by the Porsche RS that inspired by the racetrack." The device has glass on both its front and back as well as an all black design.
This special edition device features the same triple rear camera setup as the Huawei P20 Pro, including a 40MP RGB sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 20MP monochrome sensor with f/1.6 aperture, and 8MP telephoto sensor with f/2.4 aperture. It also includes phase detection autofocus, 5x Hybrid Zoom, and 960fps slow motion video capture, as wel las a 24MP front-facing camera for all of your selfie needs.
One of the notable upgrades of this Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS is its in-display fingerprint reader. There's a fingerprint reader on the back, too, so you're set no matter which style of fingerprint reader that you prefer.
Also packed into the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS is a 6-inch 2880x1440 OLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, an octa-core Kirin 970 processor, 6GB of RAM, and either 256GB or 512GB of built-in storage. There's a 4,000mAh battery powering the phone, a USB-C port for charging, NFC, and Qi wireless charging, and the whole package is IP67-rated for dust and water resistance.
On the software side, the phone comes with Android 8.1 Oreo running below Huawei's custom EMUI 8.1 user interface.
The Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS will be available globally at a starting price of €1,695 ($2,104 USD) for the 6GB/256GB model. If you'd prefer the more capacious 6GB/512GB version, you can expect to pay €2,095 ($2,600 USD).
