After revealing the Vive Pro at CES earlier this year, HTC will now let you claim one of your very own.
The HTC Vive Pro is now available for pre-order for $799. This price only includes the headset, meaning there are no controllers, base stations, or Vive wireless adapters included. HTC does say that the Vive Pro supports SteamVR Tracking 1.0 and 2.0, though, meaning that owners of the current HTC Vive can upgrade their headset and keep their controllers and base stations.
The Vive Pro offers several upgrades over its predecessor. It's got dual 3.5-inch AMOLED displays that each has a resolution of 1440x1600, which works out to a total resolution of 2880x1600. It's got a 90Hz refresh rate and 110-degree field of view, and HTC touts that the Vive Pro has an optimized face cushion for a more comfortable, immersive experience.
HTC will begin shipping Vive Pro units on April 5. Customers who order before June 3 will get a free six-month Viveport Subscroption. This service gives Vive users access to five different Vive apps each month.
Also announced today is that HTC is dropping the price of its original HTC Vive full kit. That bundle now costs $499 and includes the HTC Vive headset along with 2 wireless controllers and 2 base stations.
