To date, OnePlus phones have only been available from OnePlus in the U.S. That could change soon.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has said that his company will begin talking with U.S. carriers in 2018. It's not certain that any deal will be made, but OnePlus is interested in trying out the carrier model. "If the right opportunity and timing come along, we'll be very happy to experiment," Lau explained.
OnePlus has become popular with Android enthusiasts after emerging a few years ago, offering phones with flagship-tier specs at prices lower than typical flagships. The truth is that the majority of consumers in the U.S. still buy their phones from their carriers, though, so selling its devices through a carrier could really help give OnePlus a boost and raise consumer awareness about its brand.
One other tidbit of info revealed by Lau today is that OnePlus is planning to launch its next phone late in Q2 2018. No other details about the device were revealed.
