There was some uncertainty about the Amazon Echo and its potential for success when it first launched in 2014, but the device has since become popular and spawned several competitors. Now Amazon has confirmed that this holiday season was the best ever for its Echo family.
Amazon says that it sold "tens of millions" of Alexa-powered devices worldwide this holiday season. This category includes Echo hardware as well as its Fire TV devices.
Amazon also said that the Echo Dot and Fire TV Stick were the best-selling products from any manufacturer in any category across the entirety of Amazon.
With the rise in popularity of smart speakers like the Amazon Echo and the deals that Amazon offered on its Echo devices, it's no surprise to hear that Alexa-enabled devices sold well over the holidays. The news is pretty exciting for Amazon, but it's also good for existing Echo owners because this can help spur developers to create more Alexa skills and continue to improve any existing skills that they've got.
If you didn't get an Echo device during the holidays or you're just looking to add Alexa to more rooms in your home, you can still get solid deals on both the new Echo (2nd Gen.) and the Echo Dot from Amazon.
