Samsung is one of the few companies that still releases new Android tablets, and today it introduced another new model.
The new Samsung Galaxy Tab A is an affordable Android tablet aimed at family use. It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat on an 8-inch 1280x800 display and features an 8-megapixel rear camera with flash as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Tab A features a metal body, and packed inside of that shell is a Snapdragon 425 processor paired with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a microSD card slot. There’s also a 5,000mAh battery powering the Galaxy Tab A and a USB Type-C port for when you need to recharge.
On the software side, Samsung is preloading the Galaxy Tab A with entertainment. There’s a Kids Mode that includes games and videos from Lego and a Value Pack that’ll let you download games like Lego Batman: Beyond Gotham and Toca Hair Salon 3 for no charge. There’s also a Call and Notification Prevention Mode to help you play your games without disturbances.
For parents, Samsung is including Parental Controls so that you can set limits on usage and customize the content that’s available to users. There’s three free months of YouTube Red included with each Galaxy Tab A, too.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A will be available in silver and black color options starting November 1st for $229.99.
