Samsung has likely made all of its flagship hardware announcements for 2017, but it may still have some big software news coming soon.
Samsung is planning to announce “Bixby 2.0” during its developer conference on October 18th. Details on Bixby 2.0 are still light, but The Korea Herald says that Bixby 2.0 will include expanded third-party services and support for non-smartphone products.
We know that Samsung is all-in on Bixby, going so far as to dedicate a hardware button to the assistant on its new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 flagships. Considering that, it’s not surprising to hear that Samsung is working to expand Bixby’s capabilities to include more third-party services, which would help it to compete against other assistants like Alexa and the Google Assistant.
Having Bixby appear on non-smartphone products makes sense, too, when you remember that Samsung makes smart home devices, TVs, and all kinds of other home goods.
Have you tried Bixby? If so, what do you think of it?
