The stream of new smartphones being announced at IFA 2017 continues thanks to Alcatel.
Alcatel today took the wraps off of a quartet of new Android phones: the Idol 5, Idol 5S, A7, and A7 XL. Both the Idol 5 and Idol 5S feature 5.2-inch 1920x1080 displays packed into aluminum bodies. The Idol 5 includes 3GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage, as well as a microSD slot, while the Idol 5S is packing 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
In terms of camera performance, the Idol 5 offers a 13-megapixel camera interpolated to 16 megapixels along with phase detection autofocus and an f/2.0 aperture. Also included is a 5-megapixel wide angle front-facing camera interpolated to 8 megapixels. Meanwhile, the Idol 5S is equipped with 12-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front cameras.
Other notable features of the Idol 5 include an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, Android Nougat, and a 2800mAh battery. Meanwhile, the Idol 5S has stereo speakers, a quad-core MediaTek Helio P20 processor, and a 2850mAh battery.
Alcatel says that the Idol 5 will launch in Europe and Latin America in Q4 2017, while the Idol 5S will be available in Europe starting in Q4 2017.
And then there’s the Alcatel A7 and A7 XL. The regular A7 is packing a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display, 16-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front cameras, octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 4000mAh battery. There’s also 32GB of storage, a microSD slot, and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.
As you might’ve guessed by its name, the Alcatel A7 XL is a larger device, packing a 6-inch 1920x1080 display. It also comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup that includes a 12-megapixel autofocus camera and a 2-megapixel full frame camera, a fingerprint reader below those rear cameras, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
Rounding out the Alcatel A7 XL’s spec list is 32GB of storage, a microSD slot, 3GB of RAM, and octa-core MediaTek MT6750S processor, and a 4000mAh battery, all packed into a full metal body. On the software side, the A7 XL comes with Android 7.1 Nougat.
The Alcatel Idol A7 will launch in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, and the Asia Pacific region in Q3 2017. The A7 XL will be available in the same regions, but it won’t arrive until Q4 2017.
