Last year, display testing firm DisplayMate said that the screen on the Galaxy Note 7 was the best mobile display it’d ever tested. Now the Note 8 has leapfrogged it.
The Galaxy Note 8 is “the most innovative and high performance smartphone display” that DisplayMate has ever tested, and the group says that the screen on the Note 8 has earned its highest ever A+ grade.
In its report, DisplayMate notes that the screen on the Galaxy Note 8 offers up to 22 percent higher screen brightness than the Galaxy S8’s display, with a peak display brightness of 1,240 nits. The Note 8’s display also offers improved absolute color accuracy and better viewing angle performance, says DisplayMate, as well as a larger native color gamut.
This new DisplayMate reports also praises the Note 8’s multiple screen modes and color management, saying that these features are “very useful” and will need to be provided by all other manufacturers in the future.
Each of the past several Samsung flagship smartphones have been praised by DisplayMate as having some of the best mobile screens on the market, so it’s no surprise to see the same thing happen with the Note 8. The phone is premium in just about every regard, offering a cutting edge design and high-end specs, and now would-be Note 8 buyers can rest easy knowing that the phone’s display is impressive, too.
