The family of Nokia smartphones is growing again today with the introduction of a brand new flagship, the Nokia 8.
The Nokia 8 runs “pure” Android 7.1.1 Nougat on a 5.3-inch 2560x1440 display. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor and comes equipped with 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of built-in storage, and a microSD slot for adding more storage.
One of the highlight features of the Nokia 8 is its ZEISS-branded dual rear camera setup. There’s one 13-megapixel color sensor and one 13-megapixel monochrome sensor, and the setup includes OIS, PDAF, an IR range finder, and dual tone flash. Meanwhile, the front-facing camera is a 13-megapixel shooter with PDAF.
HMD Global, maker of the Nokia 8, is touting the phone’s Dual-Sight mode that lets you use the front and back cameras at the same time for split-screen photos and video. Also included is built-in streaming to both Facebook Live and YouTube Live.
Another main focus of the Nokia 8 is the Nokia OZO spatial 360-degree audio. HMD Global touts that OZO enables you to “accentuate the right sounds while reducing ambient sounds or background noise.”
Rounding out the Nokia 8’s feature set is a fingerprint reader, 3090mAh battery, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack. The whole body is IP54-rated to be splashproof.
The Nokia 8 will roll out globally through September at an average retail price of €599 ($705 USD). It’ll be available in Polished Blue, Polished Copper, Tempered Blue and Steel color options, as well as a Gloss Blue model that’ll come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage.
