Yes, you read that right. Sprint is currently offering an entire year of free service for those who decide to switch from their current carriers. This promotion includes unlimited data, talk and text, and even family plans.
According to the announcement made by Sprint earlier today, postpaid subscribers who switch from Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile may be eligible for this deal. The offer is only available for new Sprint customers. There's also no contract necessary but a $30 activation fee is required. But then again, this too is refunded within a couple of billing periods.
The promotion, however, requires that you sign up before June 30th and port a number over from one of the carriers considered as Sprint's biggest competition. Once you're able to meet the guidelines, you can enjoy a year's worth of service that will last until July 31, 2018.
The unlimited plan includes the following:
Unlimited data, talk and text
Video streaming up to 1080p
Music streaming up to 1.5mbps
Gaming streaming up to 8mbps
10GB of high-speed data per line may be used on VPN, mobile hotspot and Peer-2-Peer usage
Unlimited 4G LTE data for most everything else.
Data deprioritization still applies during times of network congestion.
Is it really free though? Well, not completely. While the service is free, you still have to pay for the SIM card as well as the monthly taxes and fees. Also, if you switch off AutoPay or eBilling, you'll be billed with other charges like a $7.99 recurring monthly payment.
Of course, Sprint requires you to bring your own phone if you wish to use the service. Among the eligible devices for the free year of service promotion include:
Apple iPhone 5C (Verizon only)
Apple iPhone 5S (Verizon only)
Apple iPhone 6
Apple iPhone 6 Plus
Apple iPhone 6S
Apple iPhone 6S Plus
Apple iPhone 7 (Verizon only)
Apple iPhone 7 Plus (Verizon only)

Google Nexus 5 (AT&T and Verizon only)
Google Nexus 5X
Google Nexus 6
Google Nexus 6P

Google Pixel XL

After October 1, 2017, customers may upgrade their device to a new Sprint phone via purchasing in monthly installments or leasing it. The free year of service will still continue once the phone gets changed. However, any changes or upgrades made before this date will require a plan change to Unlimited data, talk and text. This will also mean that you'll lose the remaining months under the free year of service promotion.
With this promotion in place, it can really help you save money; especially if Sprint is a network that widely services in your vicinity. As soon as the promotional period is over, you'll have to pay $60 for a single unlimited line.
