Just days after improving its Stories feature, Instagram is now rolling out goodies for its Direct feature.
Instagram Direct now supports landscape and portrait orientations for when you send permanent images to your friends from your camera roll, meaning you no longer have to worry about cropping the photo.
Also rolling out to Instagram Direct is support for links. And when you do share a link with a friend, you’ll see a preview image as well. Links also work for phone numbers and addresses.
Instagram Direct got a big update back in April that combined your texts and reshapes with disappearing photos and videos. Now Instagram is beefing up Direct again, and it certainly looks like the company is working to make Direct a fully-featured chat app competitor.
If you’d like to see if Instagram Direct succeeds at that task, you can try links in Direct messages now on Android and iOS. Landscape and portrait uploads are now live in iOS and will be available on Android soon.
