After confirming the OnePlus 5’s name and its summer launch timeframe earlier this month, OnePlus today dropped another tidbit about its upcoming flagship.
OnePlus is partnering with DxO to improve the camera performance on the OnePlus 5. DxO is behind the camera benchmark site DxOMark, which rates the performance of dedicated cameras as well as smartphone cameras.
No details about OnePlus 5’s cameras were shared today, so we’ll have to wait a bit longer before we know how many megapixels OnePlus is cramming in there or what other kinds of tricks the OP5’s camera might have.
For many folks, their smartphone camera is their only camera, and so camera performance is an important part of a new smartphone. It’s good to hear that OnePlus recognizes this and is focusing on including a great camera with its next flagship, especially since the mobile photography competition is getting heated lately with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Google Pixel. Now we just have to wait to see how the OnePlus 5’s camera compares.
