Google Assistant is coming to Apple iOS devices, claims a new report from Android Police. Details on Google’s plans are still light, but it’s expected that Google Assistant for iOS will be US-only at launch.
It’s possible that Google could announce Assistant for iOS later this week during Google I/O. As for Assistant itself, it’s not likely to be baked deeply into iOS like Assistant is on Android. Instead, it’ll likely be an app that launches from the home screen and offers chat-style interactions like in Google Allo.
Google Assistant is pretty good at answering your questions, so it’s exciting to hear that Google will be bringing its Assistant to iOS. However, some iOS folks will likely to continue depending on Apple’s Siri for their Assistant needs since it’s baked into iOS devices. For fans of Google and Assistant that just happen to use an iPhone, though, the arrival of Assistant on iOS could be a big deal.
