There’s no shortage of streaming TV services for cord-cutters to choose from, but today another option has sprung up.
C Spire, a regional wireless carrier that’s also the sixth largest carrier in the US, today announced C Spire TV. This streaming TV service is currently in beta and will launch fully in the coming weeks. It’ll be offered to new and existing C Spire Fiber customers in Mississippi.
When it comes to features, C Spire TV offers local channels as well as premium cable offerings. The channel list includes ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, Fox News, CNN, ESPN, ESPN 2, Food Network, AMC, TBS, HGTV, and “hundreds more.” C Spire TV also offers Replay TV, an on-demand service that’ll let you rewatch any show from the last three days, and a Cloud DVR for storing shows that you’ve recorded. Users have profiles that get personalized recommendations, too.
C Spire TV is offered as an app that runs on set-top boxes like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV. Users will also be able to watch TV on Android and iOS smartphones as well as on their computers. There’s also an Amazon Echo app that’ll let you control C Spire TV using your voice to say things like “Watch Fox News” and “Search for Godzilla.”
Finally, pricing starts at $65 per month for the Standard Pack that includes 104 HD channels. There are additional packs that include premium movie networks and expanded sports channels for between $10 and $20 each.
Because C Spire TV’s base package starts at $65 per month, the service doesn’t appear to be targeting consumers that are focused on getting the cheapest package of channels possible. Instead, it appears that C Spire TV is going after folks that want a large, cable TV-like package of channels, in a more modern offering that includes features like a Cloud DVR. If that’s you and you live in an area where C Spire TV will be offered, you should keep an eye out for its full launch this spring.
