These days, it seems like almost every major smartphone maker has released a smartphone with a dual rear camera system. We’ve seen such devices from Apple, HTC, LG, and Huawei, just to name a few. One company that we haven’t seen a dual rear camera phone from is Samsung, but that doesn’t mean that Samsung hasn’t at least considered such a device.
Newly leaked photos claim to show a Samsung Galaxy S8 prototype with dual rear camera. The two cameras are stacked vertically, and below the sensors we can see the camera flash.
It’s no surprise to learn that Samsung may have experimented with adding dual rear cameras to the Galaxy S8. Companies try all kinds of things in their labs, experimenting with hardware and features that they think could make for a hit. Apparently this dual camera setup didn’t meet Samsung’s expectations, and so the company scrapped it and opted for a 12-megapixel Dual Pixel sensor similar to the one found in the Galaxy S7.
Have you ever used a phone with a dual rear camera setup?
